Chris Berg

TRIATHLON

Chris is a resident of San Diego, California. He has been racing triathlons since 1998, and coaching the sport with Breakaway Training since 2010. Prior to getting involved in the sport, Chris competed as a swimmer, hockey player, and volleyball player. Chris’ passion is to help other athletes achieve their triathlon dreams.

Chris has won the Mission Bay Triathlon, one of the longest running triathlons in the world, and considered by many to be the birthplace of the sport.

2020 is all about getting back on the bike and finding fitness.  At the end of 2019, I suffered a broken back.  After 3 months of slowly being able to function without assistance, I am back riding on the trainer and roads. This summer I hope to return to riding off-road and possibly running.

Favorite Flavor: My favorite flavor, that’s a tough one. I’m OG Team Fluid so I’ve been on the Tropical Escape train for over a decade, but Chocolate Wave is the real deal.

A Quote That Fires You Up: Quotes don’t fire me up too much, but when facing the challenge of competition or a tough workout and questioning what am I doing, I draw on Albert Camus and the Myth of Sisyphus, “The struggle itself towards the heights is enough to fill a man’s heart. One must imagine Sisyphus happy.”
