Chris is a resident of San Diego, California. He has been racing triathlons since 1998, and coaching the sport with Breakaway Training since 2010. Prior to getting involved in the sport, Chris competed as a swimmer, hockey player, and volleyball player. Chris’ passion is to help other athletes achieve their triathlon dreams.
Chris has won the Mission Bay Triathlon, one of the longest running triathlons in the world, and considered by many to be the birthplace of the sport.
2020 is all about getting back on the bike and finding fitness. At the end of 2019, I suffered a broken back. After 3 months of slowly being able to function without assistance, I am back riding on the trainer and roads. This summer I hope to return to riding off-road and possibly running.
In 2020, there were no race results, but plenty of good rides, good times, and smiles which all ended the same way; two scoops of FLUID recovery. With gyms shut down, one of the nice things of 2020 was that my wife got into riding bikes. Starting in earnest with small road rides, we now both try to ride gravel every Sunday morning. Looking ahead into 2021, I am hopeful that races will be full on. Gravel is my new fun challenge for myself and BWR events as well as TLBR in Montana feel like they should be on the calendar. Of course with my background as a triathlete 2021 won't be complete without running. I didn't do a lot of it in 2020, so I have a volume/distance goal in 2021 which I am hoping to accomplish as well.
Favorite Fluid Flavor: On the performance side, Blueberry Pomegranate is #1. For recovery, Chocolate is a no brainer, but I just slammed Cinnamon Vanilla after my ride this morning so it is fresh on my palate.
My Ultimate Training Song: Favorite songs, where do I begin? I've gotten into the most recent album from TOOL lately. It goes well with indoor riding. But, when it comes down to smashing intervals my go-to is Metallica Master of Puppets.
