TRIATHLETE/TRAIL RUNNER/ENDURANCE MOUNTAINBIKER
I’m a multi-sport athlete based in Los Angeles who has been on the Fluid Team since 2011. Originally from New Zealand, I’ve spent the last 16 years living in Southern California building a design agency with my wife and raising tour two kids. Over that time I also took up triathlon and have competed in over 100 races from Sprint Distance to Xterra to Ironman. Some of the more memorable races were competing at the Ironman World Champs in Hawaii, the Xterra Worlds in Maui and 3 years on the New Zealand National team at the ITU Olympic Distance Age Group Worlds.
Last year’s highlight was competing with my brother at The Pioneer. A 2-man team, 6-day mountain stage race set in the high mountains around Queenstown, New Zealand. A hard grueling race of 270 miles with over 50,000ft of climbing set against the stunning backdrop of NZ’s Southern Alps. It was a truly epic experience.
The year ahead has plenty of new challenges with endurance mountain bike races like Grizzly 100 in Big Bear Lake and a number of trail races in the new Cirque Run Series. It’s a new mountain run series set on ski resorts in the West and Alaska over the summer. Not overly long in length but with between 2500-4000ft in elevation gain, which will surely burn the lungs.
Favorite Flavor: Recovery Chocolate, Recovery Mint Chocolate, Blueberry Pomegranate, and Raspberry Lemonade. Mint Chocolate has now also become my kid’s favorite post swim workout shake.
