Fluid began as a senior project between two students, one in nutritional biochemistry and one in exercise science at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, CA in 2005. 

Using the money made from personal training and coaching, they bought ingredients in bags, drums, and even 50lb sacks and began powder mixing in the kitchen. After several trial & error batches (and lots of additional research), they developed recovery sports drink  their athletes loved (and one that would eventually win awards in the real world!)

There was only one problem, (well maybe more than one), "Recovery" drinks weren't really a thing yet. No one (besides them) knew how valuable post-workout carbs & protein could be. With the decision looming to go to grad school or get a real job, they had a choice to make, and they dove in.

They hit the road attending every marathon, bike race, or triathlon that would give them a booth, attending over 100 events in 2008 alone, and many more for years thereafter. In 2013, the team added the "Tactical" line, specifically designed to help California wildland firefighters and those working under heat stress. In 2022, the company added Informed Sport testing to several products to serve a growing number of clients in professional sports. For the past 17 years, the company has matured steadily and organically, thanks to the support and goodwill of thousands of customers. 

Today, Fluid is still headquartered in San Luis Obispo, CA, family owned & operated, and run by a team of truly outstanding human beings.
