Serving up liquid gold! Introducing our brand new restorative Protein – packed with non-GMO plant-based protein and powerful antioxidants, we’re stoked on this therapeutic blend. Fluid Protein with added turmeric extract, cinnamon, and ginger is designed to fight inflammation, build and repair tissue, and boost your bod’s immune health too, so you can say YES to doin’ your best.

Here’s the backstory from Fluid founder Richard Smith:

While training for my first ultramarathon a few years ago, I started making a turmeric elixir before bed. Turmeric has long been linked to a good night’s sleep and reducing inflammation throughout the body. I would simmer almond milk and add turmeric, cinnamon, ginger root, and maybe a little coconut oil. It was a delicious bedtime treat, and I always felt healed and rested for the next day’s workout. Sometimes I would alternate my elixir with a protein powder drink, especially on harder training days. One evening I thought to myself, why not combine the two to rebuild my muscles and keep my joints happy?

My team & I got to work. We experimented with a few different proteins & finally decided on a non-GMO pea protein due to its great BCAA (branched chain amino acid) profile and similarly high glutamine numbers to whey protein. These particular amino acids are vital for muscle health, performance, & repair. Our pea protein is highly digestible, hypo-allergenic, and vegetable-based, resulting in an amino acid-packed protein fit for everyone’s recovery needs.

After selecting an excellent protein, it was time to examine the therapeutic ingredients: turmeric, ginger, and cinnamon. Turmeric contains curcuminoids, a powerful antioxidant with anti-inflammatory properties. Studies have shown turmeric to reduce bodily pain related to inflammation such as arthritis and boost immune function. In order to ensure these benefits, we exclusively source turmeric standardized to 95% curcuminoid concentration (most spice rack turmeric contains only 2-6% curcuminoids). Minor problem – curcuminoids in turmeric are not easily absorbed…without a little help. Turns out piperine found in black pepper can boost absorption up to 2000%, so we had to spice things up with a little black pepper extract!

Ginger root & cinnamon also pack a powerful antioxidative and anti-inflammatory punch. Whole ginger root powder contains gingerol, which studies have shown to reduce exercise-induced muscle pain, as well as pain related to osteoarthritis. Recent research shows cinnamon may cut the risk of heart disease, improve insulin sensitivity (helping to lower blood sugar levels and have an anti-diabetic effect), and like turmeric, may have beneficial effects on neurodegenerative diseases. Of course, ginger and cinnamon are delicious as well.

Lastly, we were able to keep our plant-powered restorative mix free from added sugar by using a combination of monk fruit & stevia for a subtle sweetness. The final result?
A super-tasty drink mix with 22g of protein, 4.3g of glutamine, 4.9g of BCAA’s, plus a therapeutic dose of turmeric, cinnamon & ginger!
